Boney Kapoor-Sridevi anniversary special: A love story which resembles Bollywood romances

In an interview with India Today, Boney Kapoor revealed that he first saw Sridevi in a Tamil film in 1970s. Despite knowing nothing about her then, Boney was still deeply impressed by her.

After that, Boney decided to cast Sridevi in one of his films. However, he wasn't able to meet her despite several attempts. Finally, he met her when he approached her for 'Mr India'. They managed to converse in broken Hindi and English. Since all of Sridevi's professional decisions were taken by her mother, Boney went on to meet her as well.

After working with her in 'Mr.India', Boney became more fond of her and eventually wasn't able to suppress his feelings. He went on to admit to his ex-wife that he has fallen for Sridevi. Later, Sridevi too understood his love and eventually they got married in 1996.

They were complete different personalities and that's what made them such a lovely couple. While the filmmaker was a true-blue Punjabi, Sridevi was an introvert who was very fierce about her personal life.

Their love story was North meets South. The couple are blessed with two daughters - Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. Unfortunately, Sridevi passed away even before she could see her daughter Janhvi make her silver screen debut.

Boney was madly in love with Sridevi and it was clearly evident in the way these two would make their public appearances. Holding hands, exchanging kisses on cheeks and stealing glances, they would never refrain from expressing their love for each other.

Prior to their marriage, Boney would find excuses to meet Sridevi. He followed her when she was shooting in Switzerland for 'Chandni'. Now though he had nothing to do with the film, he went on location just to see the actress.

With more than two decades of marriage, Boney and Sridevi knew each other very well and stood by each other's side through thick and thin.
