After a few days, the Bombay High Court granted bail to Sooraj Pancholi. On Jiah’s mother’s persistence and investigations, the case is being handled by the CBI.

The suicide…

On June 3, 2013, Jiah committed suicide. She had hung herself from a ceiling fan around 11:45 pm. This was in the bedroom of her Juhu flat. At that time, her mother Rabiya and sister Kavita were not at home.

Mother’s claim

Jiah’s mother Rabiya alleged that Jiah has not committed suicide, but has been murdered by her boyfriend actor Sooraj Pancholi.

The suicide note

On June 7, 2013, a six-page suicide note was found by her sister. The note indicated that Jiah had planned to end her life.

Sooraj arrested

On June 10, 2013, Sooraj Pancholi was taken into custody by the police for allegedly abetting Jiah’s suicide.

Jiah Khan made her debut as the lead heroine in the year 2007, with Ram Gopal Verma’s controversial romantic thriller film 'Nishabd'. She was cast opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the film. Jiah was nominated for the ‘Filmfare Best Debutant Award’ for this role.
