Retro: Pen Studios And Pen Marudhar To Distribute Suriya-Led Actioner In North India

Dr Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios has officially boarded the highly anticipated film Retro, taking charge of its distribution across the North Indian market. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj, Retro stars National Award-winning actor Suriya alongside actress Pooja Hegde.

Produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment in association with Stone Bench Creations, Retro has already created a buzz with its genre-bending teaser and immersive visuals of Varanasi. With its Hindi version set for a pan-India release, Pen Studios’ involvement ensures the film reaches a wider audience across the Hindi-speaking belt.

Pen Studios and Pen Marudhar together has one of the most impressive list of hits in Bollywood such as RRR, Gangubai Kathiawadi’ PS1, PS2, DreamGirl-2, Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘Jawan’, the massive hit Stree-2 and most recent blockbuster ‘Chhaava’, to name a few.

As seen in the trailer, Retro is loaded with massy action scenes, 90s swag, gangster tropes, and love. It is directed by Karthik Subbaraj and stars Suriya and Pooja Hegde in lead roles. The cast also features Jayaram, Joju George, and Shriya Saran in pivotal roles. The film’s stirring soundtrack is composed by Santhosh Narayanan. The film will release in theatres worldwide on May 1, 2025.
