Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule became a huge blockbuster, earning over ₹1,740.95 crore worldwide and setting a new record as the highest-grossing Indian film. However, the film has been caught in multiple controversies, including a tragic stampede incident where a mother lost her life, and her child was critically injured.
Pushpa 2 Faces Legal Trouble Over Massive Box Office Earnings
Now, Pushpa 2 is facing another legal challenge, this time over its earnings. According to TOI, GL Narasimha Rao has filed a petition arguing that a portion of the film’s massive profits, reportedly exceeding ₹1,870 crore, should be used to support folk artists and fund small-budget films.
The petitioner also raised concerns about the approval process for higher ticket prices and special screenings, citing a Supreme Court ruling. He urged the court to direct the government to use part of the film’s profits for public benefits, such as building public theatres and supporting small-scale filmmakers.
During the hearing, the judge questioned the petition’s relevance, stating that the benefit shows and ticket price hikes had already happened. However, the petitioner clarified that his plea focused on how the film’s profits should be used.
The court has asked him to submit supporting Supreme Court rulings, postponing the case for two weeks. Pushpa 2 also stars Rashmika Mandanna and follows the intense rivalry between Pushpa and Bhanwar Singh in this action-packed sequel.
