Vijay Thalapathy Questioned By CBI For 6 Hours In Karur Stampede Case
According to the latest updates from PTI, Vijay was questioned for nearly six hours, and authorities indicated that he would be summoned again for further clarification on some unresolved issues. Although the CBI had planned to question him again on January 13, Vijay requested a different date due to Pongal celebrations.
Vijay arrived at the CBI headquarters at 11:29 AM on Monday. After completing the formalities, he was taken to a team within the anti-corruption division investigating the case. He departed around 6:15 PM. A crowd of fans gathered outside the headquarters to show their support. The actor had flown into Delhi from Chennai aboard a chartered flight, accompanied by some colleagues from Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
What Happened In The Stampede Case?
The incident occurred on September 27 last year in Karur district, Tamil Nadu, during a political rally organised by TVK. The event attracted a large crowd, which eventually turned chaotic, leading to the deaths of 41 people and injuries to many others. The Supreme Court, which ordered the CBI to investigate on October 26, remarked that statements from senior Tamil Nadu police officials defending their subordinates after the tragedy had damaged public trust. The court emphasised the importance of an “impartial, independent, and unbiased” investigation to help restore confidence in the criminal justice system.
