Vijay Thalapathy’s wife, Sangeetha, recently filed a divorce petition in the district court of Chengalpattu. She claimed that the actor-politician is involved in an extramarital relationship. Following this development, Vijay, the founding president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has finally broken his silence with a social media post. While speculation has been focused on his personal life since the news broke, the actor has chosen not to address the controversy directly. Interestingly, Vijay Thalapathy’s latest post on social media has nothing to do with the ongoing situation.

On Monday, March 2, Vijay shared a message on his X (formerly Twitter) account. He sent best wishes to students in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry who are appearing for the +2 exams. In Tamil, he wrote, “Heartfelt greetings to my dear younger brothers and sisters who are writing the 12th standard public exam in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.”

He continued, “You all, who are set to create a prosperous society tomorrow, face this exam without anxiety, without fear, and with courage. Advance wishes to excel in higher education as well! Only good will happen! Victory is certain!” The TN HSE +2 exams are scheduled from March 2 to 26.

Vijay Thalapathy’s Divorce

The marriage described by Sangeetha as irretrievably broken. It has shocked many of Vijay’s fans and the public, especially as the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly elections are approaching. In her petition, Sangeetha alleged that she discovered in April 2021 that Vijay was involved in an extramarital affair with a female co-star. She said it caused her “deep emotional pain and mental suffering, amounting to betrayal and violation of marital trust.”

Sangeetha requested a decree of dissolution, along with permanent alimony based on Vijay’s income and social standing. She also sought the right to reside in their matrimonial home in Neelankarai until the case is resolved or an equivalent accommodation is provided.

Vijay, popularly known as Thalapathy, married Sangeetha in the United Kingdom in July 1998. A traditional Hindu ceremony followed it in August 1999. With 68 films to his name, Vijay was expected to retire from acting after his 69th film, Jana Nayagan. It is before he focuses on his political career. However, his final film has yet to be released due to ongoing censorship issues.
