Raktdan Amrit Mahotsav 2.0, an initiative by the Akhil Bharatiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad (ABTYP) supported by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will kickoff on September 17. The Mega Blood Donation Drive was started in 2012 and since then has found a pride of place in the Guinness Book of World Records for collecting over 1,00,000 blood units in a single day across India and abroad.

Actor and entrepreneur Vivek Oberoi, the global brand ambassador of this initiative, has been one of their most ardent supporters right from this endeavour’s inception and will continue his association this year as well with his presence at this year’s event.

Vivek Oberoi Continues Association With ABTYP For Raktdan Amrit Mahotsav 2.0

The ABTYP is a non-profit organisation under the spiritual guidance of Acharya Shri Mahashraman Ji, a revered monk and the 11th Acharya of the Jain Shwetambar Terapanth Sect. The Acharya’s teachings which rest on non-violence, compassion and service form the bedrock for the ABTYP’s endeavours. Their organisation has close to 350 branches and more than 45000 members who dedicate themselves to the service of the nation through their multiple initiatives ranging from blood donation drives and eye donation drives. That’s not all, they also have a reserve Terapanth Task Force as part of their organisation which comes into action for disaster management.

This year, 7500 blood donation camps will be organized across India and abroad in a single day. The scale of this mission is unprecedented with 4,000 blood banks, 5,000 doctors, 25,000 lab technicians, 1 lakh volunteers, and millions of donors – all weaving a lifeline of service that will stretch to every village and city. College campuses, panchayat halls, marketplaces and community centers will transform into hubs of compassion and service.

Vivek Oberoi On Blood Donation

Talking about the initiative actor and entrepreneur Vivek Oberoi said, “Around 12,000 patients lose their lives every day in our country due to the lack of timely access to safe blood; a number that can change if just 1% of our population donates regularly. I’ve always believed I’m an actor second and a human being first, and I stand by initiatives that put saving lives at the forefront. I’m truly honoured to have been associated with the Mega Blood Donation Drive and hope our initiative helps dispel the myths and fears around blood donation, so that more and more people feel encouraged to come forward and contribute.”

Talking about the Mega Blood Donation Drive 2.0, the National Convenor, Hitesh Bhandia said, “Raktdan Amrit Mahotsav 2.0 is an initiative which is very close to our heart and marks an important day in the calendar of the organisation’s initiatives. We started the blood donation camp because we believed that we could build a global fraternity which was blood efficient and didn’t have to deal with blood deficit. Our organisation is dedicated to the service of mankind and we believe that the blood donation drive will lead to the blood banks becoming robust.”
