Karwa Chauth 2021 is around the corner. The festival will be celebrated on October 24 this year. This popular and pious occasion is celebrated with great pomp every year, however, due to the current Coronavirus pandemic, the celebrations will be low-key this time around. On this day, mostly women wear red colour clothes as the same is colour of love and also symbolizes passion and auspiciousness. Speaking of the festival, it is one of the important festivals for married Hindu women. During this one-day festival, married women observe fast from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and longevity of their husbands.

On this day, married women wake up early in the morning before sunrise to eat ‘sargi’ – a meal usually prepared by their mothers-in-law. After the same, they observe fast till moonrise. Devotees offer prayers to Karwa Mata, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Kartikeya. The festival is incomplete without shringaar. Women, who celebrate, make sure to put their best fashion foot forward. Either one chooses a traditional saree or heavy lehenga, suit, or indo-western look.
