Manmeet Grewal commits suicide

Television actor Manmeet Grewal committed suicide last night (May 16). Reportedly, Manmeet was depressed as his income was affected due to the ongoing lockdown. The actor had featured in shows like ‘Aadat Se Majboor’ and ‘Kuldeepak’. He was 32.

According to a report in ABP News, Manmeet committed suicide by hanging himself to death in his Kharghar residence (Navi Mumbai). The actor lived with his wife. Owing to the pandemic, shoots of shows have been halted and due to that, Manmeet was unable to make the ends meet.

The report further stated that he was debt-ridden and couldn’t even afford to pay the rent of his flat.

The actor’s friend and producer Manjit Singh Rajput, told ABP News, “Manmeet was facing financial issues for several days. He took loan worth lakhs for personal and professional work. However, he was not able to earn anything due to the lockdown and couldn’t repay the borrowed money. He took the drastic step because of the financial crunch.”

Manjit revealed that Manmeet’s wife was holding his hanging body and requested people to cut the dupatta in her husband’s neck. However, nobody helped her fearing the Coronavirus infection. “After some time, a doctor and a police officer came to the spot; however, they also didn’t help. About an hour later, the guard cut the scarf from her husband’s neck. He was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead,” shared Manjit.
