‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 11’: Sony apologizes after netizens blast makers for inaccurate representation of Chhatrapati Shivaji

This Wednesday after the episode ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 11’ was aired it created a lot of frenzy on Twitter over an inaccurate reference of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Netizens on Twitter were upset and didn’t hold back in pointing out the mistake and their disappointment.

In this Wednesday’s episode, Amitabh Bachchan asked a question, where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s name in the option was only shown as Shivaji. The question that was asked: Which of these rulers was the contemporary of Mughal emperor Aurangazeb? And the options were – Maharana Pratap, Rana Sanga, Maharaja Ranjit Singh and Shivaji. This offended netizens.

#Boycott_KBC_SonyTv was trending on Twitter and Netizens were slamming the makers of ‘KBC 11’. They said their respect for the show and the host had reduced, one wrote, “I was a big fan of @SrBachchan
and regular viewer of @SonyTV but not anymore…You are not bigger than Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj” another wrote, “my respect for the show & the anchor has taken a huge dip when i see that the respectable #ChatrapatiShivajiMaharaj is denigrated by being called by first name only & the worst of all Mughal rules aurangzeb being ennobled with such respect.”

But, the channel was quick to rectify their mistake as they took to Twitter to apologize for offending everyone and accepted it as inaccurate reference Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It read, “There was an inaccurate reference to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during Wednesday’s KBC episode, due to inadvertence. We deeply regret the same and being mindful of the sentiments of our viewers have carried a scroll expressing regret during our episode yesterday. #KBC11 (sic).”
