The American action-packed spy series Citadel and its sister shows Citadel: Diana (Italian) and Citadel: Honey Bunny (Indian) took to the world by storm soon after their releases. While season 2 of the Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden-led show was officially announced in March 2023, fans also anticipated the return of the Matilda De Angelis-led Italian show and the Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. And now there’s an update.
As per a recent media report, Raj and DK’s Citadel: Honey Bunny and Alessandro Fabbri’s Citadel: Diana have been cancelled after just one season, Read on to know why the two international spin-offs of the Priyanka-Richard show have been shelved and the future of the main show.
Citadel Honey Bunny Season 2 Cancelled
A Deadline reports quoted Vernon Sanders – Head of Television, Amazon MGM Studios, talking about the cancellation of the Citadel sister shows saying, “Having successfully traversed India and Italy, storylines from both Citadel: Honey Bunny and Citadel: Diana will be woven into the upcoming second season of the mothership series Citadel.”
He continued, “While these successful and widely enjoyed international chapters will not continue as individual series, Season 2 of Citadel will be our most exhilarating yet. With high-stakes storytelling, new additions to our amazing cast and bold, cinematic ambition, the new season will deepen the emotional journeys of Nadia, Mason and Orlick against the relentless force that is Manticore. We’re excited to share what’s next when Citadel Season 2 premieres globally in Q2 of 2026.”
About Citadel
Released in April 2023, Citadel starred Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra as Citadel agents Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh, respectively. The Indian spin-off, Honey Bubby revolves around the story of Honey (Samantha) and Bunny (Varun), who are the parents of the character Nadia Sinh. Alongside Dhawan and Prabhu, the series also starred Kay Kay Menon, Simran, Sikandar Kher, Saqib Saleem, Soham Majumdar, Shivankit Singh Parihar and Thalaivaasal Vijay in supporting roles.
Giving the show a 2.5 star rating, Bollywood Bubble wrote in its review, “Citadel: Honey Bunny ticks the right boxes when it comes to high-octane, stylised action and chemistry between the leads, however, when it comes to maintaining its pace, the series lags.”
