Well, we guess we have found out the reason behind this. History suggests that it was in 1303 CE that Alauddin Khilji captured the fort of Chittor by killing the king, Maharawal Ratan Singh. It was then that Queen Padmavati performed jauhar by jumping in the pool of fire to save her honour. With 1303 CE being the year when this incident took place, it could be the reason why the makers chose to release the trailer at 13.03 time. An excerpt from Wikipedia states, “In 1303, the Delhi Sultanate ruler Alauddin Khalji captured the Chittor Fort from the Guhila king Ratnasimha, after an eight month long siege. The conflict has been described in several legendary accounts, including the historically unreliable Padmavat, which claims that Alauddin’s motive was to obtain Ratnasimha’s beautiful wife Padmini.”

Looks like Sanjay Leela Bhansali is keen to capture the most minute details too.

‘Padmavati’ is slated to release on December 1.
