Speaking of the same, a source told Pinkvilla, ” ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ sequel has been on cards for quite some time now. But it was only recently that the things were taken forward. Aditya Chopra himself is looking into this and the pre-production work has already started.”

The source further said, “Both Rani and Abhishek are more than keen to do this project and have given their nod for it. However, it won’t be directed by Shaad Ali. Who is helming this sequel is still not revealed. But the plot has been finalised and the shoot schedule is being planned. If everything works out well, then the movie will tentatively go on-floors in November, this year.

And recently, when the entertainment portal got in touch with Abhishek for the same, he denied any such news and said, “When ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ first released in 2005, you know Adi, the producer was very keen to do the sequel. But he said he didn’t have a story right now. So, I know at that point in time there was a talk and would he like to make a sequel? I am sure he would. But, until he doesn’t find a story, I don’t think you should believe in any reports. Traditionally with Adi what happens is, the sequels be ‘Dhoom’ or any other film, he will message me and say, ‘I have cracked it and we are going to start’. I still haven’t got that message from him. Until he tells me that, it’s not correct for me to confirm any rumour because I have to wait until Adi tells me that the film is happening.

Also speaking of if he and Aditya actually spoke about the sequel, he said, “At that point of time when it first released we did. But then he kept saying, ‘Look, I haven’t been able to find a story’, so we never discussed it after that.”

So it seems, we still have to wait for an official confirmation by Aditya.
