Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who has made a mark in Indian as well as International cinema, is going to be the first Indian woman to hoist the Indian National Flag at Melbourne’s iconic pulse point, Federation Square. She is going to be felicitated at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne taking place in Australia and that’s when she will hoist the flag. This time the film festival would be celebrating ‘India at 70!’.

Aishwarya has been one of the first few to go international. She made a mark in Global cinema by featuring in films like ‘Bride and Prejudice’, ‘The Mistress of Spices’, ‘Provoked’, ‘The Pink Panther 2’ and more. She has also been the brand ambassador for many international cosmetic brands. Not just this, she would also be felicitated by the government of Melbourne at the Westpac IFFM Award. Speaking about Aishwarya’s attendance, Mitu Bhowmick Lange, Festival director, says, “The Indian film festival of Melbourne is honoured to welcome Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as our much loved guest to IFFM this year. She’s a global icon and extremely loved by the audiences in Australia. It will be a proud moment for all Indians when she becomes the first Indian woman to hoist the national flag at the pulse point of Melbourne – the federation square. This is certainly a proud moment for Aishwarya and family. We must say that women of Bachchan family are quite achievers. Jaya Bachchan recently bagged the best Parliamentarian award. Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to share this news. Good going, ladies!
