Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar set for a hattrick with Selfiee after the success of Kesari and Good Newwz

Akshay Kumar has been a part of the Indian film industry for over three decades now, but it was only in 2019 that he collaborated with Karan Johar for the first time. The duo gave the successful war drama Kesari and followed it with another blockbuster Good Newwz. Now, this hit duo of Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar are back for their third collaboration Selfiee, and are looking to achieve their hattrick of success.

Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar team up for a third time for Selfiee

Both Akshay and Karan are strong forces in the Indian film industry, thus them coming together is a special feat. Their first project had to be something special too and that is what Kesari was. Depicting the Battle of Saragarhi, Kesari touched the hearts of the audiences as it showed the valour of the 21 Sikh soldiers involved in a fight against a huge British army. Post that, the duo teamed up again for the light-hearted dramedy Good Newwz. The film was Raj Mehta’s directorial debut and also featured Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani. It was a huge success as well critically and commercially. Now, Selfiee marks their third collaboration.

Selfiee trailer out now

The team of Selfiee launched the film’s trailer in a grand way on Sunday. Featuring Akshay alongside Emraan Hashmi, the film tells the story of a clash between a superstar and his biggest fan. The trailer has been received very well by the audiences and they are excited to see Akshay and Emraan come face to face. Selfiee also features Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty as the film’s leading ladies and they play Emraan and Akshay’s wives respectively in the film.

Selfiee is an official remake of the 2019 Malayalam film Driving Licence which featured Prithviraj Sukumaran and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead. Prithviraj makes his foray as a producer in Hindi films with Selfiee. The film is produced by Star Studios, Dharma Productions, Prithviraj Productions, Magic Frames and Cape Of Good Film. With so many renowned names associated with it, and the track record of Karan and Akshay’s partnership, there are huge expectations riding on Selfiee. The team will surely complete their hattrick of success with the film as it releases on February 24, 2023.
