Akshay Kumar teams up with Palash Sen for devotional single Mahakal Chalo; singer shares, “Bollywood stays away from me but…”

Ahead of Maha Shivratri on February 26th, Akshay Kumar and singer Dr Palash Sen have released a new single, Mahakal Chalo a devotional track featuring both artists on vocals. The collaboration, which also includes choreography by Ganesh Acharya, showcases a shared devotion to Mahadev.

Palash Sen shared insights into the song’s creation, revealing it began with composer Vikram Montrose. “I recorded some parts at my studio in Delhi and then traveled to Mumbai to complete the duet with Akshay,” he explained.

Palash Sen was effusive in his praise of Akshay Kumar’s musical abilities. “It was incredible working with Akshay, who, despite his superstardom, remains humble and respectful. He’s a thorough professional. He’s a true musician at heart. When we arrived on set, he knew the entire song by heart, while I was still struggling with the lyrics. He kept saying he’s not a singer, but I must admit, he’s a naturally gifted one,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that despite his background in the independent music scene, he felt welcomed. ” I’m glad Akshay thought of me and there was no bias against me. I didn’t feel that I’m from the indie space. If Akshay likes a song, he knows how to go about it. He’s open to experimentation. We didn’t know each other, but he brought me on board.”

The music video features both Akshay Kumar and Palash Sen performing together, and fans can look forward to seeing them unite in their devotion to Mahadev on screen.

In addition to his musical endeavors, Akshay Kumar has upcoming film projects, including “Bhooth Bangla,” directed by Priyadarshan and co-starring Tabu and Paresh Rawal, which is slated for release on April 2, 2026. He is also set to appear in “Housefull 5,” scheduled for release on June 6, 2025, with its trailer attached to Salman Khan’s “Sikandar.”
