Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has never failed to amaze the cinegoers with his acting skills. After appearing in several Hindi films, the star is all set to make his debut in Marathi film industry. He will be seen in Mahesh Manjrekar’s film Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Saat. Akshay will be playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Saat is produced by Vaseem Qureshi.

Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Saat team had a mahurat shot event in Mumbai on November 2. It was attended by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and MNS Chief Raj Thackeray including Akshay, Mahesh Manjrekar and others.

Akshay who was last seen in Ram Setu is very much excited about his Marathi debut. As per a report in ANI, he said, “It’s a dream come true role for me. I think to portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the big screen is a very huge responsibility. I was taken aback when Raj sir asked me to portray this role. I feel so good to be playing this part and it’s going to be a dream come true role for me. Also, I will be working for the first time with Director Mahesh Manjrekar, and it is going to be an experience.”

Director Manjrekar said that the film is his dream project and he has been working on it for the past 7 years. He added, “It is a subject that needed that much attention and research. It is by far the biggest and grandest Marathi film to be made and with its release nation-wide, I want people to know the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the most powerful Hindu King. I am very fortunate to have Akshay Kumar on board to play the character of Shivaji Maharaj, I believe he’s perfect for the role”.

Apart from his Marathi debut film, Kumar also has Gorkha, Selfiee, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, OMG 2- Oh My God!, Capsule Gill and Soorarai Pottru Hindi remake in his kitty.
