Akshay Kumar visits an ailing Sonali Bendre in New York

Sonali Bendre, one of the most talented actresses of Bollywood shared a heartbreaking news with her fans and friends on Wednesday. The news that she is suffering from high-grade cancer has left her fans and friends in a shock. Bollywood was still reeling under the shock of Irrfan Khan’s illness and now Sonali’s revelation has come like a bolt from the sky.

Sonali had tweeted that she has been diagnosed with high-grade cancer, which has metastasized. She also said she is undergoing treatment in New York.

“Sometimes, when you least expect it, life throws you a curveball. I have recently been diagnosed with high-grade cancer that has metastasized, which we frankly did not see coming. A niggling pain led to some tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis. My family and close friends have rallied around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for. I am very blessed and thankful for each of them.”

“There is no better way to tackle this than to take swift and immediate action. And so, as advised by my doctors, I am currently undergoing a course of treatment in New York. We remain optimistic and I am determined to fight every step of the way. What has helped has been the immense outpouring of love and support I’ve received over the past few days, for which I am very grateful. I’m taking this battle head-on, knowing I have the strength of my family and friends behind me,” she added.

Her social media handle was soon filled with messages from her friends in Bollywood. From Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Anil Kapoor to Hrithik Roshan, Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Bachchan and many others tweeted wishing her speedy recovery.

Now as per a report in Hindustan Times, Akshay Kumar met her a couple of days back in New York after hearing of her illness, and spoke to HT, sending his prayers. “I know that Sonali is a fighter. May God help bring her back in the best of health.”

Akshay shared screen space with Sonali in ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobara’. Sonali is also one of the few actors to have worked with all the three Khans – Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan.
