Alia Bhatt talks about nepotism

Actress Alia Bhatt has come a long way since her Bollywood debut film ‘Student of the Year’ (2012). The actress, who has some interesting projects lined up in her kitty, shared her opinion on nepotism in the industry when she was asked about it. Recently, actress Kangana Ranaut had talked about this topic of nepotism in Bollywood on the popular chat show ‘Koffee With Karan 5’ after which it came to limelight. Many wondered that Kangana had targeted Alia (she didn’t take any name) who had made her debut with filmmaker Karan Johar, who hosts the show as well.

Recently, during the promotions of her upcoming release ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, Alia shared her views on this saying, “I think a star kid can get that first film due to nepotism. But to constantly get films just because you belong to a filmi family, is not possible. I don’t want to take any names, but there have been many examples of sons and daughters of lineage who have come and gone without achieving anything. What about that? Eventually, people come to see you as an actor and not because your family is famous, and you can’t fool them.” (Also Check: Did Alia Bhatt just reveal Ranveer Singh’s look from ‘Gully Boy’?)

“I am aware people do struggle to make a mark in the industry, but it’s not right to blame nepotism. I didn’t plan my birth in the Bhatt family. I can’t change that and today, I am successful not just because my family is famous, but also because I have worked hard and you can’t take it away from me,” added the ‘Udta Punjab’ actress who is the daughter of veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actress Soni Razdan.

Well, certainly we agree on Alia’s statement that the actress has worked hard to achieve the position she has today in Bollywood and there’s no doubt about it.

Talking about films, Alia’s upcoming release ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ co-stars actor Varun Dhawan and is slated to hit the screens on March 10, 2017.
