Ranbir Kapoor Recalls Proposing To Alia Bhatt In Front Of ‘3 Babbar Sher’; Shares, “Meri Sherni Mere Aage Khadi Thi Aur Main…”

Ranbir Kapoor maybe busy promoting his upcoming epic Ramayana globally but that doesn’t mean he has to shy away from talking about his personal life. The actor – who recently appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18 with co-stars Sai Pallavi and Ravie Dubey, opened up about his romantic proposal to wife Alia Bhatt.

For those who don’t know, RK proposed to Alia while the two were enjoying a vacation in Masai Mara, Africa. During this revelation, the actor shared that he not only tipping his guide/driver to stop their car in the middle of the jungle and click pictures but the special moment had 3 lions in close proximity. Sharing how he proposed to Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor told host Amitabh Bachchan that he had planned ahead and carried a ring for the special occasion. He then revealed that he made arrangements with the people accompanying them on the trip to stop the vehicle in the jungle and capture the proposal from a distance.

Recalling his instructions to his guide and driver, RK said, “Maine pehle se hi apna jo guide hai, jo driver hai, unko ek tip de di thi ki aap kahin rok dena jaake beech jungle mein. Main anguthi laya tha ki main ghutnon pe jaunga aur aap door se photographs khichna.” The actor further explained why he wanted photographs of the proposal. He happily shared, “Kyunki ladkiyon ko photographs ka bahut shaukh hai, Instagram pe daalne ka.”

Talking about the actual proposal, Ranbir Kapoor said it took place in the presence of lions, making the setting particularly memorable. The ‘Ramayana’ actor recalled that three lions were nearby when he got down on one knee in front of Alia Bhatt. Describing the scene, he shared, “Teen babbar sher is taraf the, kuch 100 meter par, aur meri sherni mere aage khadi thi aur main chuha ban kar apne ghutnon par khada tha ki baby, ‘Will you marry me?’”

RK went on to call the proposal an “adbhut moment” in his life, making it clear that the memory has stayed with him.

Alia Bhatt had a teenage crush on Ranbir Kapoor, love blossomed between the two while shooting for their first film together, Brahmāstra. The couple – who made their first official public appearance together at Sonam Kapoor’s wedding reception in May 2018, got engaged during their trip to Maasai Mara, Kenya. The duo married on April 14, 2022, in an intimate ceremony.

The function, held at their Mumbai residence, Vastu, was attended by close friends and family. The couple welcomed their daughter, Raha, on November 6, 2022.
