Prakash Javadekar announcing the news on Twitter wrote, “The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and the international community are happy. My heartiest Congratulations to him@narendramodi @SrBachchan(sic)”

Reacting on being conferred with such a huge honour, Amitabh Bachchan took to the microblogging site and wrote, “There is a paucity of words searching a response .. for the generosity of words that pour in .. I am but deeply grateful and most humbled .. my sincerest gratitude.”

Well, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Big B is being awarded Dadasaheb Phalke Award because he hands-down deserves all the awards in the world.

The megastar kickstarted his glorious career in Bollywood with ‘Saat Hindustani’. And in the period of five decades that he has been entertaining people across the generations and globe, Bachchan has won four National Film Awards (for ‘Black’, ‘Paa’, ‘Agneepath’ and ‘Piku’). He has also been conferred with Padma Shri, the Padma Bhushan and the Padma Vibhushan.

The Dadasaheb Phalke award comprises a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus), a shawl and a cash prize of Rs.1,000,000.

There’s no other living legend who has ruled the viewers’ heart the way Amitabh Bachchan has. We are so proud and happy living in the same era as Big B.
