Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan Starrer On Halt Since 2024; Action Comedy Release In Limbo- Report

Sources indicate that the shoot of the action comedy led by Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan has been on hold since late 2024. The reason cited is due to uncertainties surrounding its release strategy. Co-produced by Karan Johar and Guneet Monga Kapoor, the film has been stuck in limbo since wrapping up its initial schedule in late 2024.

If everything had gone according to plan, Ayushmann and Sara would currently be preparing for the film’s release. It remains to be an untitled project. Mid-day reported that the film has been in a standstill since its first schedule in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, concluded.

An insider shared, “It’s a quirky, fun story. Everything was progressing smoothly when the team shot the first schedule mid-2024. The plan was for the film to release in the first half of 2026. But it’s been stuck for over a year now. The actors and crew are eager to resume filming, but there’s no clarity on when shooting will restart.”

Why Is The Release Being Delayed?

So, what’s causing the delay for debutant director Aakash Kaushik’s project? Another source revealed that the makers are undecided about the film’s release platform. Originally conceived as a theatrical release, discussions are ongoing about whether to switch to a digital release on OTT platforms. “There have been ongoing talks for months about whether it should be released online instead of in theaters, while the shoot remains halted,” the insider explained.

Ayushmann Khurrana’s last film was Thamma alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal. Sara Ali Khan’s recent appearance was in director Anurag Basu’s musical Metro…In Dino.
