On Tuesday night, the legendary singer and composer Bappi Lahiri passed away at the age of 69. He passed away after suffering from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) in CritiCare Hospital, Mumbai. For Bappi da’s final rites, last night, his son Bappa Lahiri was seen at the Mumbai airport as he returned from the US along with his wife and son for his father’s last rites.

Bappi Lahiri last rites will take place today. His mortal remains will be cremated at Vile Parle’s crematorium.

The disco king’s family released an official statement and wrote: “It’s a deeply sad moment for us Our beloved Bappi Da has left for heavenly abode last midnight. The cremation will take on arrival of Bappa from LA tomorrow mid morning ,We are seeking love and blessings for his soul. We will keep you updated. Mrs .Lahiri, Mr.Gobind Bansal, Bappa Lahiri, Rema Lahiri.”

Bappi Da’s doctor also revealed that the singer has multiple health issues. “He had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday. But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home, following which he was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) last night,” Dr Deepak Namjoshi told ANI.

The veteran composer created several hit songs that have gone on to define Indian cinema. On the work front, his last commercial Bollywood song Bhankas from Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor’s 2020 movie, Baaghi 3.

Bappi Lahiri is survived by his wife, daughter Rema Lahiri and son Bappa Lahiri.
