Priyadarshan’s Bhagam Bhag – starring Akshay Kumar, Govinda and Paresh Rawal, is among Bollywood’s top comedy films of the 2010s. Released in 2006, the comedy thriller is remembered for its script, the cast’s epic comic timing, and some pretty well-executed scenes. While fans are guilty of still re-watching this comedy, we now have tea about its sequel and cast.
As per a recent media report, Bhagam Bhag 2 will see the return of Akshay Khanna and Paresh Rawal but will have Manoj Bajpayee stepping in instead of Govinda. Read on to know more.
Manoj Bajpayee To Replace Govinda In Bhagam Bhag 2
As per to a report from Variety India, the makers of Bhagam Bhag 2 have roped in powerhouse performer Manoj Bajpayee to play a pivotal role in the sequel. While this news is amazing, the report also states that Bajpayee has been cast to replace Govinda. This shift marks a major departure from OG film’s lineup, that saw Govinda’s impeccable and irreplaceable comic timing being a cornerstone of the first film’s success.
Govinda has been largely absent from the silver screen since his 2019 project Rangeela Raja, and while fans were hopeful for a nostalgic reunion, the production seems to be heading in a different creative direction.
About Bhagam Bhag 2
The sequel, directed by Raaj Shaadilyaa, aims to maintain the frenetic energy of the original Priyadarshan classic while introducing a fresh narrative layer. As per reports, the narrative is expected to revolve around the familiar tropes of mistaken identities and escalating chaos, ensuring that the ‘spirit of the original’ remains intact even as the faces change.
Aside from Manoj, actress Meenakshi Chaudhary is also set to join the cast. This project will mark her return to Hindi cinema after the 2019 film Upstarts. As per the report, Chaudhary is paired opposite Kumar and the search for a leading lady to star opposite Bajpayee is still underway.
