Bhooth Bangla Akshay Kumar Ektaa Kapoor

Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav and Wamiqa Gabbi starrer Bhooth Bangla continues its strong run at the box office. Directed by Priyadarshan, the horror-comedy released on April 17 and has grossed over Rs 211 crore worldwide so far. The film has received positive audience response for its mix of comedy, horror and nostalgia-driven performances. However, amid the film’s commercial success, fresh allegations regarding pending vendor payments have surfaced online.

Bhooth Bangla Producers Accused Of Rs 48 Lakh Non-Payment

According to a Mid-Day report, several vendors associated with the film have accused the production house of delayed payments. One vendor reportedly claimed that dues worth Rs 30 lakh remain unpaid, while another alleged pending payments of Rs 18 lakh. Together, the alleged unpaid amount stands at Rs 48 lakh.

Speaking to the portal, one vendor said, “Payments are getting stuck for months. Once the film releases, it becomes difficult to get the money out. The 90-day invoice clearance has become a thing of the past.”

A crew member also alleged that priority payments often go to top talent and key vendors first. “Top talent and key vendors are prioritised when it comes to payment. The crew is asked to wait,” the crew member told the publication.

Meanwhile, Balaji Motion Pictures has denied all allegations of non-payment. Reacting to the claims, the production house stated, “Balaji Telefilms Limited has fulfilled all its contractual payment obligations in relation to various projects undertaken by the company.”

Ektaa Kapoor Celebrates The ‘Biggest Hit’ Of Her Life

The controversy surfaced shortly after producer Ektaa Kapoor shared a celebratory note for Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan following the film’s box office success. Praising the filmmaker, she wrote, “I was working with a man who was doing his 100th film… The world expected fireworks when two headstrong people like us came together, but what they didn’t see was the deep-rooted mutual respect that defined our journey. I don’t think I’ve had more fun working with anyone than @priyadarshan.official “

She further added, “The first thing he asked me was, ‘Ekta, are you making money on this film? I don’t work on a film if my producer doesn’t make money’. The kind of belief system he brings to the table and ensures the producer is secure before he even begins the project, is as rare as Priyan sir himself! I knew that the company’s money and the film; both were in the right hands.” (sic)

Reflecting on their collaboration, the producer continued, “It’s not to say we never had our disagreements, but it was always respectful. At the end of the day, I truly believe a director must take the ship forward, and what a ship this has been!”

She concluded the note by writing, “Thank you Priyan Sir, for your vision, your discipline, and for giving me the biggest hit of my career! Couldn’t be more grateful Love and respect always!”

The allegations have once again sparked conversations around payment delays within the film industry. In recent months, similar concerns have emerged in connection with other Bollywood productions as crew members and vendors increasingly speak up about pending dues and delayed invoice clearances.
