Abhishek Banerjee Reflects On Equation With Divyenndu In Real Life
Speaking about Munna Bhaiya,i.e., Divyenndu and them bullying each other, Abhishek Banerjee, who plays Compounder in Mirzapur: The Movie, replied, “Nahi, sirf woh mujhe bully karte the. Mere senior the. Toh jo aap show mein dekhti hain ya filmein dekhne wali hain, woh sach hai. Woh mere real life mein Munna Bhai hain.”
When asked to share an instance, Abhishek hesitantly shared, “Yaar, main aise bata nahi sakta. Ab yaar, duniya ki phatti hai Munna Bhai se. Aapko lagta hai meri nahi phatti hogi? Toh agar maine agar kuch bol diya galat… Yeh kuch saal pehle ki baat hai. Waise toh college mein bahut saare aise kisse hain jo main nahi bataun toh zyada behtar hoga. But abhi kuch recently, matlab jise kehte hain, abhi toh hum aa gaye hain wapas, and now, you know, I’m also an actor, and he is an actor and all of that, and sab kuch woh hai. But I think ek-dedh saal pehle ki baat hai.”

He continued, “Unhone mujhe raat ko phone kiya aur unhone bola, ‘Kya kar raha hai, be?’ Toh maine bola, ‘Kuch nahi, bas TV dekh raha tha.’ Kehte hain, ‘Abhi turant ghar aao.’ Toh unki tone se main samajh gaya ki is waqt main Divyenndu Bombay wale se baat nahi kar raha hoon. Main Divyenndu Delhi wale se baat kar raha hoon, jo mere college ke senior the. Maine bola, ‘Abhi aaya.’ Main gaya unke ghar, aur bahut… jise kehte hain ki woh chaar-paanch doston ke saath the, jo unke bahut hi khaas dost the. Aur woh mujhe bahut miss kar rahe the. Aur mujhe itna miss kar rahe the ki woh chahte the ki main T-shirt bhi na pehnu.”
Banerjee added, “Unhone meri T-shirt wahi phaad di, khushi ke maare ki, “Aa gaya mera dost!” Aur main ab bhari party mein ek phati hui T-shirt ke saath. But, you know, that’s Delhi ke laundon wali, bhai. Laundon wali baat hai. Aur yeh woh apnapan hai. He knows that it’s not going to shock me. It’s not shocking me that he did that. I can understand that he is really happy and excited, and he wants to do that.”
The actor concluded, “Yeh unka pyaar hai. Yeh unka… yeh seniors ka pyaar hai. Boys ka nahi, Seniors ka; we are crazy. We are all crazy. If we are normal, I mean, I don’t think normal people can act. That’s… that’s not happening.”
