The entire nation is shell-shocked after seeing the gruesome images and videos of JNU students being brutally attacked by a masked mob last week. While several of B-town folks had come forward and protested against the state-sponsored violence, last night Deepika Padukone did the unthinkable by not only visiting the JNU campus but also lending her full-fledged support to its students.

Deepika was in Delhi to promote her upcoming film ‘Chhapaak’. It was then when she decided to express her solidarity with the JNU students. Speaking about the recent attacks on the students, the actress said that she is very angry at the situation. On Sunday night masked mob had entered the JNU campus and attacked its students as well as staff. Several students were severely injured. So far the Police has failed to make any arrests or register FIR against the attackers.

Speaking to Aaj Tak, the ‘Chhapaak’ actress said, “I am very angry at what is happening but it is worse that no action is being taken.” Deepika though didn’t address the students at the JNU nor gave out any statement at the campus. However, she didn’t refrain from sharing her views on the ongoing situation later.

Deepika further added, “What I wanted to say I said it two years ago when ‘Padmaavat’ was released. What I am seeing today, it pains me. I hope it doesn’t become the new normal. That anyone can say anything and they can get away with it. I fear and I’m sad. This is not the foundation of our country.”

With Padukone showing some spine, we hope other A-lister actors too will follow the suit and share their views on the current situation in the country.
