Nirmala Sitharaman calls on team of Uri

Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam starrer ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, that is based on the surgical strike led by the Indian army against Pakistan as a retaliation for the 2016 Uri attack, has become a blockbuster hit at the box office.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ has managed to earn positive feedback from critics as well as audiences. Now, the film has added yet another feather in its hat. On the occasion of Army Day on Tuesday, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman called on the team of ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ and appreciated them on their effort.

Meanwhile, Army chief General Bipin Rawat had organized a special screening of the action thriller which was attended by director Aditya Dhar, producer Ronnie Screwvala and actors Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam.

The Defence Minister took to Twitter to praise the film and also shared a few pictures with the Uri team.

The film registered a big opening weekend at the box office. The total first-weekend collection stood at Rs 35 crores (Friday – Rs 8.25 crores, Saturday – Rs 12.25 crores and Sunday – Rs 14.50 crores). The film has also done decently at the international box office. The storyline has tugged at the heartstrings of Indians and they are flocking to the theatres close to their homes to watch the war drama.

Vicky Kaushal, who is depicting the role of a major in Indian Army, has been garnering a lot of appreciation for his acting skills. He will next be seen in Karan Johar‘s period drama ‘Takht’ that also features Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor and others.
