Nana Patekar has reportedly declined a major role in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film SSMB 29, leaving a notable casting gap. The film stars Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra and is currently filming in Hyderabad and Odisha. Nana Patekar has emphasised that creative satisfaction is more important to him than money.

Nana Patekar Turned Down Rs 20 Cr For SS Rajamouli’s SSMB29?

According to a report by News18, SS Rajamouli had approached Nana Patekar for a role in his upcoming pan-world movie SSMB 29. Rajamouli had offered Nana Rs 20 crore for the role during their discussion at Nana’s farmhouse. The source shared, “Rajamouli was very keen on casting Nana Patekar for a pivotal part in his film with Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra. The filmmaker had travelled from Hyderabad to Patekar’s farmhouse in Pune to narrate him the script. The duo, in fact, had an interesting exchange of inputs. But then Patekar said that this isn’t something he wants to do.”

However, Nana reportedly turned down the offer because he found the character not enticing enough. “The money offered was close to an unprecedented Rs 20 crore. And he had to only shoot for about 15 days. But he felt that the role wasn’t something that he wanted to sink his teeth into,” added the source.

The movie is said to draw inspiration from the Ramayana but will reportedly feature an adventurous, fast-paced style reminiscent of Indiana Jones, blending mythology with action-packed exploration. Priyanka Chopra is cast as the female lead opposite Mahesh Babu, and the film is scheduled for release in 2027.’
