Rajkumar Santoshi confirms a 2 hero comedy

Firstly, talking about donning the director’s hat after 9 years, Rajkumar Santoshi says, “It’s not like a comeback as I had been working on stories through this while. I have prepared 5-6 stories in this time.” Amongst these stories, is one comedy and the director reveals it is on the lines of Andaz Apna Apna. He shares, ” It also includes a comedy on the lines of the Andaz Apna Apna genre. I have spoken to some stars for it as well. We’ll announce it on Diwali. It is in the same Andaz Apna Apna’s genre, but not a sequel to it. But it is on the same style with two heroes. The script for it is ready, and I will start work on it soon.”

Andaz Apna Apna featured Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor in the lead. It is considered one of the most iconic and cult classic comedies of all time. Rumours of it getting a sequel have done rounds multiple times. Recently, when Salman paid a visit to Aamir’s house, fans again started wondering if Andaz Apna Apna’s sequel is on the way.

Santoshi clarifies it’s not a sequel

However, Santoshi clarifies that he doesn’t want to make a sequel to his 1994 classic. He insists, “The rights for the film are with me but I don’t want to create an extension to it. That story is there but I have other subjects on that line, the audience should watch that and enjoy that. I would say the new film is even better. It has two heroes and two heroines. It will be a musical comedy. I have tentatively spoken to two actors and actresses for that and they are also very excited for it.” It would be really exciting to see Santoshi get back to his classic comedies. This Diwali is surely going to be brighter because of it.
