EXCLUSIVE: Fatima Sana Shaikh recalls someone ‘privileged’ once misbehaved with her at a party: I went home and cried

Fatima Sana Shaikh is one of the popular actresses in the industry. Over the years, Fatima has delivered terrific performances in movies like Dangal, Thugs of Hindostan, Dhak Dhak, Ajeeb Dastans, and Thar among others. She was the latest guest on Bollywood Bubble’s BodyFaming and as expected, she was at her candid best. During the conversation, Fatima revealed an incident where someone misbehaved with her at a party because she wasn’t willing to get her hair and makeup done according to their wish.

Fatima recalls someone misbehaving with her

Fatima shared, “I had recently gone to a party aur mujhe badi badtameez ladki mili jisko mein jaanti nahi. (Recently, I went to a party and I met a very rude girl) What happens is sometimes some people use alcohol as an excuse to misbehave with people. So, she was that kind of a person. And ab mere baal khulle hai, meri marzi mujhe baal khulle rakhne hai. Pata nahi usko kya problem hai hogi usne bola ki you don’t fit the party. (And my hair was open. It’s my wish I wanted to keep my hair open. I don’t know what problem she had, she told me you don’t fit the party). I want to put liner on you. She was drunk and so I was entertaining her. She was a little rude also. I don’t know where that came from.”

She went on to add, “With some people what happens is that when they you’re an actor they think that you might have an ego. Woh log apna ek assumption leke baithe hai. Woh log kya karenge pehle aappe ek rude comment marenge. AurWoh aapka morale neeche karenge. Woh aapke self confidence ko todenge. Fir bolenge I’ll make you look pretty. (They have assumptions about you. First, they will pass a very rude comment. They will lower your morale. They will break your self confidence. Then they’ll tell you I will make you look pretty).”

“‘You’ve got a good face but your hair is all over the place. Let me tie a bun’. Maine bola behen nahi. Tune waise hi mere aank pe eyeliner laga liya (I told her no. You just applied eyeliner), I don’t want to tie my hair. The she’s like ‘It’s so hot why you’re not tying?’ Maine bola ‘I don’t want to tie. It’s my hair’. Then she questioned me ‘Why are you being so rude?’ and I was like something is wrong with you that you want to touch me, change me for yourself to feel better,” added Fatima.

Fatima continued, “I had gone to a friend’s friend’s party so I didn’t know anybody there. I realized people have no boundaries. Log badtameez hai. And yeh normal log nahi hai. Yeh elite, privileged, and entitied log hai na ye bohot badtameez hai. Unko lagta hai yeh log kuch bhi bol lenge aur nikal lenge. Fir badme bolti hai mein human rights ke liye kaam karti hu tab mujhe laga teko sharam aani chahiye khud pe. (These people are very rude. And these people are not normal. These people are elite, privileged, and entitled who are very rude. They think they can say anything and get away with it. After that, she told me that she works for human rights and I thought you should feel ashamed)” The actress added she felt bad and ‘I did go home and cry’.

During the candid conversation, Fatima also spoke her heart out on how therapy helped her in deconstructing insecurities, self-love, and overcoming self-doubt.
