Guru Randhawa reacts to claims of copying Zayn Malik

For the uninitiated, Guru released his song Taare a few years ago. Post that, the song’s video was trolled to be a copy of Zayn Malik’s ‘It’s You’. When asked him about the same, Guru said, “Mujhe nahi lagta maine Zayn Malik ka koi music copy kara hai. Aur agar kara bhi ho toh koi baat nahi. Mein ache logon ka music copy karna chahta hoon life mein. (I don’t think I’ve copied Zayn Malik’s music. And even if I’ve then it doesn’t matter. I want to copy the music of good people).”

Guru added, “Agar mein kisi se inspire ho raha hu toh mein chahta hu ki mein bhi kuch waisa create karu. Aur uske upar 500 million aaye ya 10 million ya 1 million woh farak nahi padta. Farak yeh padta hai ki maine woh kaam kara hai. Woh toh audience ke upar hai. (And if I’m inspired by that then I want to create something like that. If I get 500 million, 10 million or 1 million views, it doesn’t matter. Well, what matters is that I’ve done the work. And that’s up to the audience).”

During the candid conversation, Guru also opened up about doing Punjabi films. On the other hand, Kuch Khataa Ho Jaay also stars Anupam Kher.
