Although Homebound did not secure a nomination for the Oscars 2026, producer Karan Johar and director Neeraj Ghaywan took to social media to share heartfelt messages, celebrating their journey and expressing mutual admiration. The nominations for the 98th Oscars were announced on Thursday, with Homebound missing out on a spot in the International Feature Film category. Despite the exclusion, Ghaywan and Johar praised each other publicly for their collaboration.

On Instagram, Karan Johar posted a heartfelt note to Neeraj Ghaywan, saying, “Proud!!!! Love you neeraj.ghaywan for allowing us to bask in your light!” Ghaywan responded with gratitude, saying, “Thank you, karanjohar! You have been an absolute rock. Couldn’t have come this far without you. Love you!”

Homebound was initially seen as a strong contender and garnered critical acclaim. It was ultimately absent from the final Oscar nominations announced on Thursday. Meanwhile, the nominated films for the International Feature Film category include The Secret Agent, It Was Just an Accident, Sentimental Value, Sirat, and The Voice of Hind Rajab.

About Homebound

Homebound chronicles the lives of childhood friends Shoaib (Ishaan Khatter) and Chandan (Vishal Jethwa). Their shared aspiration to join the police force influences their paths. Janhvi Kapoor brings emotional depth to the story. It explores themes of friendship, duty, and the pressures faced by young India. The film debuted on Netflix on November 21 and has garnered significant acclaim across various film festivals and awards.
