Hrithik Roshan Zaffar Luck By Chance

Hrithik Roshan recently hinted that he wants to move away from playing conventional ‘good guy’ characters and explore more layered, morally grey roles onscreen. The actor sparked conversation after sharing a reflective Instagram post in which he admitted that filmmakers often approach him only for positive characters, something he now finds limiting. Hrithik also revealed that one of the characters he would love to revisit in spirit is Zaffar Khan from Zoya Akhtar’s Luck By Chance.

Hrithik Roshan Is Tired Of Playing The ‘Good Guy’ In Films?

On Thursday, Hrithik Roshan took to Instagram and shared a picture of himself posing on a Paris street at night with the Eiffel Tower glowing in the background. Dressed in a black cap, scarf and jacket, the actor accompanied the image with a candid caption about the kind of role he now wants to play. “Just got asked what’s the kind of role I’m looking for. And I surprised myself when it came to me. Remember Zaffar from Luck by Chance? That’s the one,” Hrithik wrote.

The actor further admitted that he wants to explore more complex and darker characters instead of repeatedly playing ideal heroes. “I’d jump on something like that. But directors only wanna see me play the good guy. Sad,” he added.

Hrithik Roshan Reveals He Wants To Do Roles Like Zaffar From Luck By Chance

Hrithik referred to his memorable extended cameo as Zaffar Khan in Zoya Akhtar’s 2009 directorial debut, Luck By Chance. The character, despite limited screen time, became one of the film’s most talked-about performances. Zaffar appeared charming, successful and charismatic on the surface, but the film gradually revealed him to be manipulative, self-serving and opportunistic underneath.

The film starred Farhan Akhtar and Konkona Sen Sharma in lead roles alongside Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Juhi Chawla, Sanjay Kapoor, Isha Sharvani, Alyy Khan and Sheeba Chaddha.

Zoya Akhtar Reacts To Hrithik’s Post

Soon after Hrithik’s post went viral, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar reacted in the comment section and seemingly hinted at a possible collaboration. “Let’s get that coffee,” she commented. Actor Sanjay Kapoor, who played Ranjit Rolly in Luck By Chance, also joined the conversation with a playful response. “Zaffar from Luck by chance then this time I will direct you, you chose Karan Johar last time in the movie,” he wrote. Fans also flooded the comments section with reactions and requests for Hrithik to return to cinemas more frequently. One fan commented, “Dude, get your movies in the cinemas asap, I can’t see other actors come every 2 months and here we gotta wait years to watch you in the cinemas.”

Another user pointed out that Hrithik has already delivered memorable grey and intense performances in films like Vikram Vedha and War. “Good guy? I think Vedha and Aryan would like a word- two incredible “negative” roles. Obsessed,” the fan wrote. Another fan jokingly demanded an update on his upcoming superhero film and commented, “Posting everything but not posting any updates on Krrish 4, was not funny!”

Hrithik Roshan made his acting debut as a lead actor with Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai opposite Ameesha Patel and quickly became one of Bollywood’s biggest stars. Over the years, he largely played heroic and commercially appealing protagonists, even in action films and thrillers where the characters carried shades of emotional conflict.
