siddharth anand, hrithik roshan, fighter,

Ever since Hrithik Roshan stepped into Hindi films with Kaho Naa Pyar Hai, the actor won over his audience. He became an instant superstar and that stardom has just increased over time. His prowess on screen is undeniable, but seems like even behind the lens, Hrithik Roshan is a star as per his director Siddharth Anand.

Recently, director Siddharth Anand, who has worked with Hrithik multiple times, raved about the actor in an interview with Mid Day. The actor-director duo has collaborated before on Bang Bang and War. They are all set for their third outing together with Fighter.

Siddharth Anand on Hrithik Roshan being a director

Talking about his leading man, the director raved about him and revealed a secret too. He said, “Hrithik is a complete Hindi film hero. He is an intricate performer who not only adds nuances to his role, but also encourages the actors in front of him, so that everyone shines in the film. Hrithik doesn’t look at himself alone in a movie. He is a closet filmmaker, and he doesn’t know it. I keep telling him that he should direct a film soon.”

Interestingly, before starting out as an actor, Hrithik had been an assistant director to his father Rakesh Roshan on four films. They were Khudgarz, King Uncle, Karan Arjun and Koyla. Even Rakesh Roshan started as an actor and later turned to direction as well. It would be exciting to see if Hrithik follows his father’s footsteps too.

Siddharth on Pathaan success

The director went on to talk about the success of his last release, the Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham starrer Pathaan. The film’s box office collection crossed Rs 1000 crores globally and Siddharth feels vindicated by that.

He said, “(Before the movie’s release), some sections of the Hindi film industry and public started believing in the Boycott Bollywood trend. They lost confidence in their own films. But Pathaan was an answer to it all — don’t find excuses, make a film with the right intentions, and people will come (to the theatres).”

Fighter eyeing a release date of January 25, 2024

Next up, Siddharth has Fighter with Hrithik. The film reunites the director with Deepika as well. Apart from them, Fighter also features Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover and Akshay Oberoi. Siddharth makes his debut as a producer on the film and it is touted to be India’s first aerial action franchise. The film traces the journey of Hrithik’s Shamsher Pathania aka Patty – from a young boy to the best fighter pilot in India. Fighter will release theatrically on January 25, 2024.
