Imran Khan Hopes To Make A Sequel Of Anil Kapoor, Sridevi’s Mr. India; Shares, “For Years I’ve Dreamt It…”

Few Hindi films have managed to achieve the enduring, cross-generational appeal that Mr. India continues to enjoy decades after its release. Starring Anil Kapoor in the iconic titular role, the film also featured Sridevi in a career-defining performance, while Amrish Puri created one of Indian cinema’s most memorable villains as Mogambo. Imran Khan Reveals He Wants To Create The Next Instalment Of Mr. India

During a recent Reddit AMA, a fan asked Imran, “Hi Imran, if you could reinterpret any iconic character (including superheroes) from any industry worldwide, whom would you choose?” His response, expressing a desire to remake Mr. India, surprised fans and sparked excitement across social media.

Imran Khan recently shared his long-held dream of revisiting the iconic Mr. India. He said, “This is going to sound crazy, but… for years I’ve dreamt of making a sequel to Mr. India. I love the original; it’s a textbook example of how to create a fantastical, comic book-style movie while keeping it grounded and emotional. It’s fantastic. And Anil Kapoor looks even better today than he did back then.”

When asked whether he would retain the heroic nature of the character or experiment with an anti-hero version, Imran replied, “For me, the beauty of the character lies in his earnestness and idealism.” Fans responded enthusiastically. One fan wrote, “The charm and innocence that Anil ji brought to the original can be done justice by you in a remake. Let me know where I sign up for this to happen.” Another fan added, “Mr. India is a cult classic I’ve introduced to my kids—it’s important to pass on our sanskriti, sanskaar, and parampara. Please make this happen!”

Imran Khan, known for his charming performances in films like Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, Break Ke Baad, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan became fan favourites for his romantic-comedy roles. After a long hiatus following Katti Batti (2015), he made a notable comeback with Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos in 2026. Imran is also reportedly working on a project with Bhumi Satish Pednekkar.
