After Rajput Karni Sena vandalised the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ in Jaipur accusing him of distorting history, the production house gave out a thorough clarification. But even after repeated assurance that Rani Padmavati’s depiction will be treated with no disrespect, looks like it fell in deaf ears.

This time, an organisation called Jai Rajputana Sangh which claims to enjoy over 2.5 lakh followers, has come out in open, threatening to vandalise cinema halls if the film didn’t fit their taste. (Also Read: Artiste takes 2 days to create ‘Padmavati’ rangoli, Hindu fanatics destroy it in minutes)

“We won’t tolerate any distortion of history and if any romantic relationship is shown between queen Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji, we will burn cinema halls screening the film.

“Our members are trained in handling a large array of weapons ranging from swords to AK 47 guns. We won’t let anyone dishonour Padmavati and insult the people of Rajasthan,” Bhanwar Singh Reta, the organisation’s chief told HT.

He also added that the organisation had sent in letters of warning to a few hundreds of theatres in and around Rajasthan.

We yet await a reaction from Bhansali Productions.
