The Coronavirus pandemic hit the Bollywood films’ release calendar very badly. Several big-ticket films have pushed their release date, whereas the remaining films have now ventured into having an OTT release. After ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ and ‘Shakuntala Devi’, we now have Janhvi Kapoor starrer ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl‘ going the digital way. Producer Karan Johar confirmed that this Sharan Sharma directorial will release on Netflix very soon.

Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor who made her acting debut last year will be seen essaying the titular role in ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’. Sharing a video talking about the inspirational journey of Gunjan Saxena, Jhanvi took to her Instagram handle and wrote, “Gunjan Saxena – The Kargil Girl. This isn’t just a film for me- it’s a journey that’s taught me to believe in myself. A journey I can’t wait to share with you all. About a girl who set out to do something simple, follow her dreams.#GunjanSaxena – #TheKargilGirl coming soon on Netflix.”

The biopic is produced under the banner of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The filmmaker took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote, “Her inspirational journey made history. This is her story. Gunjan Saxena – #TheKargilGirl, coming soon on Netflix.”

‘Gunjan Saxena’ also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi, Viineet Kumar, Manav Vij and Ayesha Raza in a pivotal role. The film is based on the life of Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena, who along with Flight Lieutenant Srividya Rajan, became the first Indian women in combat during the Kargil war. Together they both created history and the film will chronicle their inspirational journey.

While the release date of the film is not out yet but it will premiere on Netflix very soon.
