Love can find you at any place and anytime. While we all know about the real-life love stories of several B-town celebs, very few people are aware of filmmaker Kabir Khan and actress-host Mini Mathur’s beautiful love story. Recently, on Neha Dhupia’s show ‘No Filter Neha’ season 5, Kabir, who otherwise never speaks about his personal life, finally opened up about how he fell in love with Mini.

During the show, while speaking to host Neha, Kabir opened up about his and Mini’s love story. Sharing how they both met, Kabir said, “Mini and I have actually, made a conscious decision of not really working together because we are both from similar fields, but we said that okay let’s keep our professions apart. But having said that we have shot together, we met on a shoot. There was a channel called Home TV and they were doing this very big show at that point in time where the first prize for that show was like a flat in Bombay and that’s how we met.”

Adding further the ‘Bhaijaan’ director said, “I was a freelance camera person and Mini was a presenter and actually, we both went to the production house office to say that we might not be able to do the show because we both had date issues. We didn’t know about each other’s date issues, we met for the first time in that office, in that meeting, and in the course of that meeting our date issues sort of disappeared and we decided that we do want to do this show and that was fun because they made us travel all over India together and we got to know each other in the course of that journey and that’s how it started.”

Previously, talking about their interfaith marriage, Mini in an Instagram post had written, “Lately I’ve been asked a lot about our interfaith marriage. And it got me thinking… because I’ve never really had to think about religion as even a tiny impediment in my marriage with Kabir. Nothing in the past two decades has ever made us feel we belonged to different faiths. Did we do a nikah? No. No one asked us to. Did I change my name? No. No one asked me to. We have remained Mini Mathur & Kabir Khan.. on paper and deep in our souls.”

Sharing about how they celebrate all the festivals, Mini further added, “Every time I fast for Karvachauth (I have no idea why.. I guess it’s the forced fasting and the resultant loss of weight) or do poojas I know by heart & have grown up with… Kabir stands beside me, indulging me through the loud filmy artis and traditions I don’t fully understand myself but love. And no one has been more excited to wear a khada dupatta and play the part with his amazing family more than me. I love all of it. And them. And we are both richer for it. Somehow we have managed to keep the culture and tradition of both religions alive without letting their rituals dictate or interfere in our life. My kids asked me for the first time last week .. mom are we Hindus or Muslims? I said you know what.. you be catholic !! Then we can enjoy every festival equally. We can even be Amar Akbar Anthony! Social media trolls bestow me with blessings like mini begum, go to Pakistan, mini khan, love jihadi .. that’s fine.. it adds dimensions to me. Do I give a shit? No, I don’t. But I want no one else to either.”

The couple has been together for 22 years. “We married young and today we complete 22 years of being best friends, spouses, partners for life. 22 years of having supported each other’s careers, dreams, families. Do we have the perfect marriage? Not by a long shot …We fight, we argue, we disappoint each other regularly but if there’s one thing we have got right between us.. it’s respect and joy for each other’s beliefs, culture, family traditions. Because faith has to be invested in people, not ideologies. Happy anniversary husband .. here’s to more & more ❤️ @kabirkhankk,” Mini ended her post with.
