Actor Kamaal Rashid Khan, popularly known as KRK, was taken into custody by the Oshiwara police on Saturday morning in connection with a two-round firing incident that was reported earlier this month in Mumbai’s Andheri area. Initially, CCTV footage failed to provide any leads. However, forensic analysis later suggested that the bullets may have been fired from KRK’s bungalow.
Kamaal R Khan Arrested By Mumbai Police
DCP Dikshit Gedam of Zone 9 confirmed the arrest, stating that KRK admitted the shots were fired from his licensed firearm while he was cleaning it. The police have seized the weapon, and further legal procedures are underway. The incident took place on January 18, when two bullets were fired at Nalanda Society in Oshiwara.
One bullet was recovered from a second-floor flat belonging to a writer-director, while another was found on the fourth floor, where a model resides. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. An 18-member team from the Oshiwara police station, led by senior inspector Sanjay Chavan, along with multiple crime branch units, investigated the case. While initial CCTV footage offered no clues, forensic evidence later indicated that the bullets might have been fired from KRK’s bungalow. This lead to the authorities to focus on him as the main suspect.
The official stated that the exact motive behind the firing is still unclear. Additionally, a case has been registered against the actor under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, he added.
KRK has yet to comment publicly on his arrest.
