Dostana 2: Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions confirms recasting; official announcement to be out soon

Earlier today we brought you the exclusive scoop on how Kartik Aaryan has been replaced in Karan Johar’s Dostana 2 over creative differences. Now the filmmaker’s Dharma Productions has finally confirmed that they will be recasting Dostana 2. The production house also revealed that the official announcement about the film’s new cast will be made soon.

Dharma Productions’ official Twitter handle shared an update on Dostana 2’s cast. “Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain dignified silence- we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D’Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon.”

For those of you who are still wondering why Kartik was dropped from the film, a source close to the development revealed, “Dharma has decided to replace Kartik Aaryan in Dostana 2 after a lot of discussions. The production house had been asking his agency for his dates for the shoot but there was no clear coordination on that end for months. After shooting for 20 days earlier, and a year and a half of sitting on with the original script, Kartik’s team is now claiming there have been creative differences with regards to the script. The production has hence decided to not put up with the chaos anymore and get another star to step in place of Kartik. While the actor has not been locked, the right replacement is being scouted.”

Back in 2019, Dostana 2 was announced with Janhvi Kapoor, Kartik Aaryan and Lakshya in the lead. But now that Kartik is no longer a part of the film, it has to be seen who steps in as his replacement.

Meanwhile, Kartik was also rumoured to star in Karan Johar’s another film based on cricket which is to be directed by Sharan Sharma. But looks like now even that film has slipped from Kartik’s hands.
