A day after her birthday, actor Katrina Kaif announced the release date of her upcoming movie Merry Christmas. Asking with the date, she even released a few posters with her co-star Vijay Sethupathi. Merry Christmas is now set to release on December 15. With this announcement, filmmaker Karan Johar got disappointed. Well, the reason behind his upset was the release date of Merry Christmas that will clash with his production venture Yodha. Sidharth Malhotra and Disha Patani starrer will also release on December 15 and this clash miffed KJo.

Karan Johar expressed disappointment over the clash

Karan took to his Instagram stories and shared a post saying that we should stand united during the challenging theatrical days. He also mentioned that if the industry people don’t stay untied then calling them as a fraternity is futile. “Clashing on a date without the courtesy of a phone call is hopefully not the way forward for the studios and producers. If we don’t stand united in these tough and challenging theatrical days then calling us a fraternity is futile.” He wrote. Though there was no mention of the names, his words are enough to hint at otherwise.

Earlier this month, the makers announced the release date of Yodha. “Re-fueled and ready to soar! #YODHA – the first action film of the franchise headlined by Sidharth Malhotra and directed by debutant duo Sagar Ambre & Pushkar Ojha – lands in cinemas on 15th DECEMBER, 2023. The film also stars Disha Patani & Raashii Khanna in lead roles,” the production house said in a statement released on Instagram.

When Ae Dil Hai Mushkil clashed with Shivaay

Back in 2019, Karan Johar’s directorial movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil clashed with Ajay Devgn starrer Shivaay. The clash between the two made headlines. In fact, there were reports stating the relationship between KJo and Kajol have turned sour because of this. Earlier, the director even spoke about the clash to India today.

“I think at that point of time, there was a relationship discord but I have solemnly resolved that and had spoken to Ajay and Kajol and everything is great now. I try to avoid clashes, but I think it’s best not to go in that media zone. But sometimes when it’s not avoidable, then you will have to go with it. Yes, there was a clash between Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. It was an unpleasant part that doesn’t make me feel good because I have known Kajol for three decades. I will never do something like that [Ae Dil Hai Mushkil clashing with Shivaay] again,” he said.

Nevertheless, we are yet to see how this clash pans out. Will they avert the clash or just go with it, is something we need to look forward to.
