And on the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 8, Karan Johar revealed that it actually wasn’t his own film that he saw last.

On October 21, 2012, Yash ji passed away due to ailing health. About a month after his demise, his last directorial Jab Tak Hai Jaan released. The film features Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, and was a success on release. However, on the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 8, Karan revealed that not JTHJ but Student Of The Year was the last film Yash ji saw before passing away.

Yash Chopra saw Student Of The Year as his last film before death

SOTY marked the debut of three superstars today- Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. The latter two actors made an appearance on the latest episode of Karan’s show. They shared that they had their first shot in the same studio where they were shooting the episode.

Going further down memory lane, Karan shared, “What is really special to me and ironical and beautiful is that Yash Chopra was here on the first day. He was there to bless all three of you and me and it’s actually the last film he saw. He saw it on the 9th of October and he was admitted to the hospital on the 12th and passed away subsequently. I remember the day he saw the film, he came and told me, ‘you have launched three stars’.”

Well, the eye of the late filmmaker was absolutely right. Alia, Varun and Sid proved to be stars and today are highly successful. Their careers are inspiration to many and it shows how intuitive Yash ji was.
