Lata Mangeshkar left for her heavenly abode on February 6th at the age of 92. She breathed her last at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital from multiple organ failure after undergoing 28 days of constant treatment for pneumonia and COVID-19. Her funeral took place at Dadar’s Shivaji Park and the legendary singer was laid to rest with state honors.

But did you know the singer had refused many filmmakers and producers to make a biopic on her as the singer did not want to share stories from her personal life. As per a report in India Today, “In the last few years, a lot of people wanted to make a biopic on Lata Mangeshkar. Several producers also met her for the same, but she refused to give the rights for her biopic. She wasn’t keen on sharing anecdotes from her personal life and chose to refuse any such offers.”

Futher, the report stated that even OTT platforms had offered the late singer however she decline. “With the advent of streaming platforms in the last few years, there was a growing interest in making a movie about Lata didi’s life and her personal journey. But she never entertained these requests. Her or have meant everything to her.”

The legendary singer was brought from her Mumbai residence to the crematorium wrapped in a tricolour in a long procession. Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan with daughter Ira Khan and Vidya Balan, husband Siddharth Roy Kapur others paid their last respects to the singing legend. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray, Raj Thackeray also arrived at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park to pay his last tributes to the singer.
