Maha Shivratri is an annual festival for Hindu, which is widely celebrated across the country. Maha Shivratri marks the remembrance of overcoming of darkness and ignorance and beginning of Spring. On the occasion of this day, whoever believes in the power of  Lord Shiva (destroyer of evil) chant prayers, fast and meditate on ethics and virtues such as self-restraint and forgiveness.

Taking to social media, several Bollywood celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Kartik Aaryan, Raveena Tandon, Rajkummar Rao, Sushant Singh Rajput and many others wished their fans a happy Maha Shivratri.

On this auspicious day, Megastar Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter and wrote ‘Har Har Mahadev’ alongside sharing a picture of Lord Shiva.

Khiladi Akshay Kumar posted a picture of him with Lord Shiva and wrote, ” May Lord Shiva bless you and your family with peace and prosperity.”

‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ actor Anupam Kher took to Twitter and shared the following post

Rajkummar Rao also tweeted- Happy Maha Shivratri.

Kartik Aaryan, who is riding high on the success of his latest release ‘Luka Chuppi’, wished his fans a happy Mahashivratri.

On the occasion of this festival, devotees from all over the country head to Shiva temples or pilgrimage to Jyotirlingams, while some celebrate it as the day to observe stillness by chanting of Shiva Mantra “Om Namah Shivaya”.
