After SLB’s ‘Padmaavat’ received backlash from various fringe groups, Kangana Ranaut-starrer ‘Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi’ is earning brickbats from a Brahmin group of Rajasthan for distortion of history. In fact, Rajput Karni Sena who had been staging protests against ‘Padmaavat’ is also supporting this group.

Speaking with a news agency, the actress said, “There is nothing controversial in ‘Manikarnika’. It’s really bad on our part to even think about creating such controversies for a woman who gave a tough fight to the British rulers while fighting alone for the country’s sake. This movie is sure to instil a feeling of pride among the people.”

She also cleared the air on the alleged love story between Rani Laxmibai and a British officer in the movie by saying that there is no love story depicted in the film. The movie has been written by scriptwriter of the superhit flick ‘Baahubali’. Speaking of him, she said, “He is so impressed with the character that he has named his daughter Manikarnika too.”
