The untimely death of Bollywood’s first female superstar Sridevi came as a shock to every one of us. Her death was a loss not just to her family but to the entire film industry. Did you know? Sridevi was supposed to appear in the recently released film ‘Kalank’. Her sudden death led the makers of the film approach Madhuri Dixit to step into her shoes. Sridevi was supposed to play the role of Bahaar Begum – a courtesan in the period drama.

Recently Manish Malhotra, who had designed the costumes of ‘Kalank’ expressed his feelings on how much he missed Sridevi on the sets of the movie. While talking to ZoomTV.com, he said, “I knew Sridevi ma’am was playing the role and you know how close I have been to her… We had just started discussing the film and her untimely death happened.”

He added that there were times when he thought about Sridevi during the shoot. “And I thought that if she’d be here, we would be discussing her clothes or jewellery,” said the designer.

We can understand Manish’s state of mind as he is very close to the Kapoor family and especially with Sridevi he shared a great rapport. Their friendship dated back to the ’90s when Manish was just beginning his career in the industry. She wore his designs when he was new and turned muse for most of his creations later.
