‘Chhapaak’: Meghna Gulzar to make Deepika Padukone meet Laxmi Agarwal
In the year 2018, Deepika Padukone appeared in only one movie ‘Padmaavat’. This movie earned her name, fame and accolades. Post her marriage, she officially announced her upcoming movie ‘Chhapaak’. The movie is based on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Meghna Gulzar is directing the movie and she has told Mid-Day that before the shoot starts, she will arrange a meeting between Deepika and Laxmi.
During her interview with Mid-Day, the ‘Raazi’ director said, “I will facilitate the meeting between the four before we start shooting. Vikrant is more external and expressive. In comparison, Deepika’s process is far more internalised. With Vikrant, I can hear and see his emotions and with Deepika, I can feel them. We will not have too many readings because we want to keep a certain level of spontaneity for the floor.”
This will be a very challenging role for Deepika as she has not done such kind of roles before. Vikrant Massey will be playing Deepika’s on-screen partner Alok Dixit who is Laxmi’s real-life partner. Alok is the founder of the Stop Acid Attacks campaign.
A few days back, Meghna shared a picture on her Instagram account with a message – “Prep”. In the picture, we can see a yellow pricked dupatta as if someone has thrown acid on it.
The movie will go on floors in May and the entire team of ‘Chhapaak’ is leaving no stone unturned for the preparation.
