‘Chhapaak’: Deepika Padukone’s first film after her wedding to Ranveer Singh starts
In the year 2018, Deepika Padukone enthralled everyone with her terrific performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’. After this film, Deepika took a break from work and got married to Ranveer Singh. However, in December, she announced her upcoming project ‘Chhapaak’. And now the film is fast getting into the production mode.
Director Meghna Gulzar shared a picture on her official Instagram account with a simple message – “Prep“. We also can see a yellow perforated dupatta as if acid had been thrown on it. Take a look:
‘Chhapaak’ is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal of Delhi and Deepika will be playing the lead role. Interestingly, this will be the Deepika’s first film post her wedding to Ranveer Singh.

For those unaware, Laxmi was attacked with acid by a stalker. The attack left her with severe burns. Speaking about the choice of Deepika, Laxmi had recently said to a section of the media, “I am so happy that Deepika is playing the role. I have no right to judge her. How can I judge someone for something which I can’t do. She has played wonderful characters on screen and I believe she will give her best. I want to thank Deepika ji, Meghna ji and the entire team who will be working together on the film.”
‘Chhapaak’ will also star Vikrant Massey. Vikrant is popular for his stint on TV and his work in films like Konkona Sen Sharma’s directorial ‘A Death In The Gunj’ and Mohit Suri’s ‘Half Girlfriend’.
According to several reports, it is being said that on hearing the story of Laxmi, Deepika was so moved that she decided to produce it as well.
