Actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty was among the first voters to cast his ballot in the West Bengal Assembly Elections. Demonstrating his support for the democratic process, he chose to stand in the queue with ordinary citizens. The second and final phase of the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 commenced on Wednesday, 29 April.
Mithun Chakraborty Rejects ‘Special Treatment’ In West Bengal Elections
Mithun Chakraborty was among the early voters, interacting with reporters as he cast his vote in East Kolkata’s Belgachia. The actor was seen standing patiently in the queue alongside other voters as polling began. His presence attracted attention at the booth. But he opted to wait like any other citizen before voting.
After casting his vote, Chakraborty addressed the media, mentioning, “Just like any regular citizen, I haven’t requested any special treatment whatsoever. I am confident that the voting process will be carried out smoothly, and I appreciate the Election Commission for ensuring everything is in place. I firmly believe the election will proceed successfully.”
Regarding voter turnout, the BJP leader expressed hope for high participation, similar to the first phase of the elections. “I hope, watching the trend, voting will be higher than 90 percent. And if that is the case, you can predict what will happen,” he said.
Mithun Chakraborty was recently seen in The Bengal Files. Vivek Agnihotri has directed the film. As per reports, he is active in several projects like Jailer 2, Lahore 1947, Fauzi, and Pinjara.
